DMD 190 - Social and Behavioral Health



The intent of this course is to explore the topics encountered by individual patients and various patient populations in order to increase awareness, understanding, sensitivity, and respect when working with medically, socially, and culturally diverse patients, with the ultimate goal of creating a foundation to enhance the processes and outcomes of whole patient-centered care.

This course is designed to develop student competency in the domains of cultural diversity, behavioral science, mental health, ethics, and inter-professional communication and collaboration. The lessons presented within this course will be integrated with and supplemented by student experiences and exposure to diverse patient populations in the Dental Public and Population Health courses.
