DMD 223 - Foundations of Patient Care III

The Foundations of Patient Care III course will continue to present the foundational elements needed for successful patient care. One of the key elements in this series is the variety of learning experiences provided to the dental student and perhaps the most significant is the early entry into the OHC practicing clinical skills with peers. As an inaugural program, there is no existing patient practice. This will allow the first few classes to have ample access to the clinic environment for their clinical skills practice needs.

The Foundation of Patient Care III course coupled with the Patient Care I course in this semester will allow ample time for lecture, small group learning, simulation and peer to peer clinic practice in the Oral Health Center for students to learn and when applicable practice the following learning
objectives for optimal patient care. Students will be assigned rotational learning activities in the same manner as Foundations of Patient Care II.

A variety of patient cases will be presented for students to gain assessment and treatment planning skills for adults with various oral health concerns, adolescents and pediatrics.
