DMD 212 - Biomedical and Clinical Systems III

This course integrates key basic science concepts with clinical cases based on frequently encountered medical conditions that are critical for any health professional to have knowledge of. The final list of conditions will be determined by the teaching faculty in collaboration with the CDM Curriculum Management Committee.

The concepts chosen as the focus of the sessions will not be the only content students will learn. Integrated knowledge relevant to the subject matter will draw from human gross anatomy and histology; physiology; cellular biology; biochemistry; pathology, including any relevant microbiology; pharmacology; neuroscience; genetics; public health and epidemiology; social determinants of health; social and behavioral health; patient management; and the clinical application of evidence-based knowledge for optimal care of the dental patient. To maximize their participation, students will be expected to come prepared by reading assigned sections before arriving in class. Classroom activity will emphasize the key concepts and engage the learners in discussion.
