MED 242 - Neuromusculoskeletal & Psychiatry



The Neuromusculoskeletal & Psychiatry course introduces second year students to the signs and symptoms, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, diagnostic criteria of central and peripheral nervous system disorders, musculoskeletal diseases, limb and joint pain with neoplastic, infectious or inherited etiologies, and psychiatric or behavioral medical diagnoses. Pharmacological agents used to treat these disorders, diseases, infections or neoplasms, including discussion of drugs of abuse will be taught. Throughout the course, emphasis will be placed on applications of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology of neuromusculoskeletal and psychiatric topics. In addition, students will learn the fundamentals of epidemiology, screenings in medicine, and study design.
